Karen Kohler, a Nursery School teacher at the JCCSF and Helen Diller Family Pre-School in San Francisco learned about Birthday Angels at the CAJE 2008 conference in Vermont. She sas the potential of this project as a tool to teach her students about values.
Her Nitzanim class explored the connections of birthdays by doing candle projects and decided to raise money for Birthday Angels by holding a candle blowing contest.
I visited the children and played games from the Birthday Angels Party Kit with them so they could have fun while learning more about the project they were supporting.
There is a way to reach even our youngest children so that they learn from the start about caring for their communities.
